Before purchasing new body jewelry, it is important to understand
a few concepts in body jewelry sizing. Here we have provided
you with some helpful body jewelry sizing information.
The common body jewelry sizing terms:
- Gauge = thickness of the jewelry. The smaller the gauge
number, the thicker the jewelry
- Length = length of the jewelry shaft. Straight and curved
barbells are measured between the balls.
- Diameter = distance across the inside of a circular jewelry
piece.
- Ball = ball diameter. Size of ball or bead on the jewelry
piece.
Gauge guide for different body piercings:
- Navel should always be 1.6mm unless enlarged
- Nipple usually 1.6mm but may be 1.2mm
- Eyebrow & Above Neck usually 1.2mm but may be 1.6mm
- Tongue should always be 1.6mm unless enlarged
